Varsha (Monsoon) 2020 Poems - Nnadi Samuel
Therapy for Dark seizures
By Nnadi Samuel
I grew up hating things i knew nothing about.
it takes more than a broad chest to bear grudges these days.
so, instead of staying idle with things that cost my breath,
i bleed a branch from my veins & watch my body jerk to mimick pain.
to hold blisters & wear a Midas touch.
to lake into a slim portrait that beams light into an overwhelming darkness.
everything solves into gold here,
& i see the gallow in a fan sprinting like a fire outbreak, as the only way put to out this loneness.
It takes a decade to see me in my raw form —wild bat, knitting a forest yarn to make it into a mood-swing.
i ditch my head in between a dizzy streetlamp, to inherit a marshland:
a dangling mohawk that ties the air like a teenage wolf.
a thick rope, weaved with longing
for things that pipe blood & pronounce grief through the tip of the body.
it traps the wall & i slip into it like a lifeline,
like a knife yawning to slither through sore memories.
