2020 Open Call , Poems - Gaylene S. David
The Call
By Gaylene S. David
Knocking gently,
Messaging furiously,
Massaging occasionally,
Spending sparingly,
Visiting profusely,
Sleeping loudly,
Dating rarely,
Fathering admiringly and dutifully-
the cue, constant reminder that I am not her.
Seeping into my space.
Regarding my love, attention and friendship wistfully.
He who loves truly gives salvation.
It is a rational process.
Self-denial, crumbs or whole cake, zero or one, sealed vow,
verses- divorced.
Unsettled, careless, emotional, overworked, ambitious, crazy and minimalist.
You- are trying to make the call.
She-Listening to God’s voice.
