Varsha 2022 Poems - John Grey

A personal Appearance

By John Grey

She bends
to follow the brushing
of her long nutmeg hair.,
breaking through the tangles
with an occasional wince
and tightening of the eyes -
if she were in the night sky,
I'd be witnessing a rare cosmic happening

The Act

Hawk sweeps down
on stupefied vole –
in the tunnels and roots systems
at ground level,
it is an act of terror.

Not until the raptor
returns to its nest
of squabbling, squealing chicks
is it an act of kindness.
