Dictated Dignity
By Harun Kewa
I will grant you freedom,
But I will decide the definition of freedom.
I will grant you dignity,
But only when it comes to certain things
I will uphold certain principles,
But they don’t apply to my friends.
If you dare question it,
You will suffer greatly.
I told you to wait for the right time,
But you didn’t.
You see what happens when you don’t do as I say?
My people might complain,
But I call the shots around here.
They can cry all they want,
But only when my friend has finished,
Will I remember that you are human
