Vasant 2024 Poems - James Croal Jackson

Gaia BH1
By James Croal Jackson

The closest black hole
to Earth is a walk
sixteen blocks up
our cosmic street,

discovered through
the slightly strange
motion of a star.

Pay attention:
you wish upon
a wobble and
out comes
a wolf.

Pail

I waste the day–
another
in the heap
atop the years
before it.

October sun
through the blue
room’s window

a fly trap
catching what has died
in this temporary
burst

.
