Vasant 2024 Poems - Sameen Shakya

Love Blooms
By Sameen Shakya

From the gravest depths of the sea, where
angels fight, unable to quite grasp
the mechanism of it: Love.

A four letter word forsaken
time and time again, after each heartbreak
leaves the heart colder. The angels watch as we

stumble into another affair again
disregarding the second verse. Jealous
of the human heart that can’t not be in love

while they, cold and wet, can all but watch
curiously with queries and quandaries
unanswered because their god favors us-

there is no other god but love.
