Fisted

From the limb
leaves dangle
like convicts
from a gallows
abandoned
to shrivel and fall
into frayed sheaths
fisted in defiance
to the very end.
Clings To Flow
Snowfall clings
to the stone’s surface
by cracks and texture.
Scrapes fingernails down
as sun thaws the snow
into drips reuniting
with the river’s flow.
