Vasant 2026 Poems - Rob Yates

I never remember poetry
By Rob Yates

I never remember poetry
after I’ve read it, after
it’s gone. You won’t
remember this. That’s not
a trick. It’s not a feint
of the light. I mean
exactly what I say
I mean. Exactly what
is said is all there is,
and more. You won’t
recall a thing, although you may
remark upon it at the time,
the moment it occurs, without
knowing exactly what occurs,
or where this for-
getting of words is
taking place.
